Elisavet Bartzoka was born in Greece, and obtained her master's degree in Pharmacy from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, after performing practical research for her thesis entiteld 'Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Selective Human Carbonic Anhydrases Inhibitors Based on Saccharin, Acesulfame, and Probenecid Scaffolds' at the University of Rome 'Sapienza' in Italy with Prof. D. Secci.
Elisavet Bartzoka started her graduate research activities in Prof. C. Crestini's laboratories in January 2014, and is currently working on high-value applications of natural polyphenols. Her research activities comprise the biotechnological modification and functionalisation of lignin, and the design, characterisation and application of natural and modified polyphenol-based capsules as drug vehicles for targeted delivery purposes, and the biotechnological modification of lignin.
